About DAAKGHAR

DAAKGHAR — meaning "post office" in Bengali — takes its name from Rabindranath Tagore's own play of the same title. Like the letters it's named for, DAAKGHAR exists to carry something forward: the music, movement, and meaning of a tradition that continues to speak across generations.

The team was founded by Manoj Murali Nair, a Rabindra Sangeet vocalist whose journey began far from Bengal, in Kerala — yet found its true home in the songs of Tagore. That connection deepened at Santiniketan, where Manoj absorbed the nuance and spirit behind the compositions, and has spent the years since performing Rabindra Sangeet for audiences across India and abroad, always seeking to honour the soul of the songs even while exploring new expressions of them.

DAAKGHAR grew out of that same spirit — a space for Rabindra Sangeet, and the wider world of music, dance, and art that surrounds it, to be shared, performed, and passed on. Every concert, workshop, and gathering under the DAAKGHAR name is, in a small way, another letter delivered — carrying Tagore's world to whoever is listening.
